PARKMAN NEWS—JULY 2024 EDITION

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Thursday, July 4th​​ and​​ Friday, July 5th​​ in observance of Independence Day.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will not meet this month.

 

  • The 2024 tax bills will be mailed on Tuesday, July 2nd. ​​ There is a 2% discount on tax bills paid in full within 30 days of postmark (Friday, August 2, 2024). ​​ Interest of 8.5% will begin accruing starting October 1, 2024.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will meet on​​ Monday, July 8th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This is a potluck event, and all are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Planning Board will not meet this month.

 

  • “Breaker Rock Beach” Summer Bible Camp will be held at the Parkman Baptist Church on​​ Thursday, July 11th, 18th, 25th, and August 1, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ This is a free program for kids ages 5 to 12. ​​ Younger children are welcome to attend if accompanied by adults. ​​ There will be a water week with a water slide and other water activities on July 25th. ​​ For more information, please contact Yvonne Davis at (207) 717-5929.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, July 11th​​ and​​ Thursday, July 25th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Applications for the Minnie Bridge Scholarship ($500) are available at the Parkman Town Office and at the bulletin board on the Grange porch. ​​ This scholarship is for​​ 2nd​​ year higher education students in the SAD #4 area. ​​ Please mail the completed applications and all required materials to the Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The deadline to apply is​​ July 12, 2024. ​​ Winners will be announced in August.

 

  • The 2024 boat registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title. ​​ Please bring in your current driver’s license or unexpired State ID at the time of registration.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Parkman is looking for quotes on groundwork for the parking lot and entrance road to the lower level of the Town Office building. ​​ More information is available by contacting the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730 or by email to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

  • The Transfer Station is open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants.

  • ATV registrations expire June 30, 2024. ​​ Stickers are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The cost to register new and renewal ATV’s is $75.00 for Maine residents and $120.00 for non-residents. ​​ ATV’s DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer as well as a current driver’s license or unexpired State ID.

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-4221.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed on Sunday and Monday. ​​ They can be reached at (207) 876-2681 for questions and they will take bottles and cans on days they are closed if you call ahead.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • The Cambridge Community Clothes Closet is open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ They are located at the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Road in Cambridge. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-3234.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that all vehicles 1999 or newer require a title.
