PARKMAN NEWS—APRIL 2023 EDITION

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, April 4th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Anyone interested in helping with community events is invited to come hear about their plans for the Spring. ​​ For more information, please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942.

 

  • Congratulations to those elected and re-elected at the Annual Town Meeting: Kyle McKenney, Selectman; Carl O’Donnell, SAD #4 School Board Member; Christian McGinn, Planning Board Member; and Rita Bagliani, Harvey Memorial Library Trustee.

 

  • Happy Easter to all on​​ Sunday, April 9, 2023. ​​ The Parkman Baptist will hold a brunch at 9:45 a.m. and an Easter Egg Hunt for kids at 10:00 a.m. ​​ The service will begin at 10:15 a.m. and all are welcome to attend.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, April 11th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, April 13th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will be having their 9th​​ annual Daddy Daughter Dance on​​ Saturday, April 15th​​ from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ Young ladies are invited to come with their Daddy or an important adult in her life. ​​ DJ Steve Boddy will be spinning tunes and having dance contests, games, and giving away prizes. ​​ Keepsake photos will be taken to remember the evening. ​​ Light refreshments will be served. ​​ The cost is $5.00 per person and tickets will be available at the door.

 

  • SAD #4 School Vacation week is April 17th​​ through April 21st. ​​ They will have an early release day on Friday, April 14th. ​​ Dismissal will be at 11:30 a.m.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, April 17th​​ in observance of Patriots Day.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The 2023 boat registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale​​ or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title. ​​ 

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 446-5459.

 

  • The Parkman Historical Society will hold its Spring meeting on​​ Sunday, April 23rd​​ at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Susan Griffith, 433 North Dexter Road in Parkman. ​​ All are welcome to attend and encouraged to bring pictures from the past. ​​ 

 

  • There will be an ATV Meeting on​​ Wednesday, April 19th​​ at 6:00 p.m. at the Cambridge Town Office. ​​ All Parkman residents are urged to attend.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ It will be opening on Wednesdays beginning​​ May 3, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants. ​​ 

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at the time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that when doing a private sale, a 1995 to current year vehicle will need a title indefinitely.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

  • Proof of insurance is required all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • Minnie Bridge Scholarship applications are now available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This $500 scholarship is for 2nd​​ year higher education students in the SAD #4 area. ​​ Please mail applications and all required materials to Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The deadline is​​ July 14, 2023.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681.

 

  • The Parkman Grange is having their 21st​​ Mother’s Day Tea on​​ Saturday, May 13th​​ from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ The guest of honor this year is Kylee Coburn. ​​ She is always a friendly and helpful person to all who come into the Town Office. ​​ She also organized the very successful Parkman Bicentennial Celebration last year. ​​ Emma Calnan and Julie Harrington will provide entertainment. ​​ The cost is $5.00 per person. ​​ Reservations are required for this very popular event and can be made by calling Sue at 277-3942.

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record request at the same time.

 

  • The Moose permit applications are now available online at​​ www.maine.gov/ifw. ​​ The deadline for completion is by 11:59 p.m. on May 15, 2023. ​​ The Moose Lottery drawing will be held in June of 2023.
