PARKMAN NEWS—APRIL 2025 EDITION

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, April 1st​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Anyone interested in helping with community events is invited to come hear about their plans for the Spring. ​​ For more information, please contact Sue Manchester at (207) 717-6248.

 

  • Congratulations to those elected and re-elected at the Annual Town Meeting: Dennis Brawn Jr., Selectman; Tedianne Thurlow, SAD #4 School Board Member; Tricia Elderkin and Nicole Johnston, Planning Board Members; and Shirley Hersey, Harvey Memorial Library.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, April 8th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This will be the last meeting of the season.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, April 10th​​ and​​ Thursday, April 24th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will be hosting their annual Daddy Daughter Dance on​​ Saturday, April 12th​​ from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ Young ladies are invited to come with their dad or an important adult in their life. ​​ Admission is $5.00 per person at the door. ​​ DJ Steve Boddy will be spinning tunes and having dance contests and games. ​​ Keepsake photos will be taken to remember this special night. ​​ Light refreshments will be served.

 

  • New Pine Tree Plates: Starting May 1st, when you register or re-register your vehicle, you will receive the new Pine Tree Plates. ​​ If you would like to reserve the plate number that you currently have (vanity and low digits must be reserved) to be put on the new Pine Tree Plate please do so as soon as possible online at​​ www.maine.gov/online/reservemyplate. ​​ There is a $25 one-time fee for reserving your plate number. ​​ We also have paper forms available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ We cannot issue May registrations until May 1st, so please keep that in mind that you cannot register May registrations in April. ​​ If you already reserved your plate, you will receive your new plate in the mail before your registration is due to run out. ​​ You will need to​​ bring in your new license plates along with the letter you receive with the plates. ​​ If you do not care for the Pine Tree Plate, there will also be a No Tree Plate available for the same price. ​​ If you currently have a specialty plate (Sportsman, Lighthouse, Breast Cancer, etc) this plate change does not affect you. ​​ We are now requiring that you bring in your old registration every time you re-register a vehicle. ​​ Please plan accordingly that the re-registration process will be lengthier than usual during this transition process. ​​ Another key point for this transition is if you come in to register an expired vehicle (say January run out), you would do the renewal and keep your chickadee plate until January of 2026 when you would then get the Pine Tree Plate. ​​ Please be patient and call the Parkman Town Office will any questions you may have at (207) 876-3730. ​​ 

 

  • SAD #4 School Vacation week is April 21st​​ through April 25th. ​​ They will have an early release day on Friday, April 18th. ​​ Dismissal will be at 11:30 a.m.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, April 21st​​ in observance of Patriots Day.

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that vehicles with a model year of​​ 1999 and older​​ are exempt from a certificate of title.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendant inside of your vehicle. ​​​​ The Transfer Station will be open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. starting​​ Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Cambridge Community Clothes Closet is open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ They are in the basement of the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Street in Cambridge. ​​ All clothing is free. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-3234.

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce​​ decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.
