PARKMAN NEWS—JANUARY 2025 EDITION ​​​​ 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in observance of New Years. ​​ We hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

 

  • Effective January 1, 2025: Vehicles that are 26 model years and older are exempt from the requirement for a certificate of title (1999 and older are exempt).

 

  • SAD #4 schools​​ will resume​​ from Christmas break on​​ Monday, January 6, 2025.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, January 9th​​ and​​ Thursday, January 30th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ On​​ Thursday, January 30, 2025, there will be a Public Hearing at 5:30 p.m. regarding amendments to the Land Use Ordinance and the Planning Board Ordinance. ​​ Copies of the amendments will be available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange is closed for the winter. ​​ They will reopen for​​ the Town​​ Meeting in March of 2025.

 

  • The Cambridge Community Clothes Closet will be open Saturday, January 4th​​ and Saturday, January 18th​​ from 9:00 a.m. to Noon and Wednesday, January 15th​​ from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. ​​ They are in the basement of the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Street in Cambridge. ​​ All clothing is free. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-3234.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, January 14th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All are welcome to attend. ​​ Please help support the local snowmobile club by joining today. ​​ Applications are available at the Parkman Town Office ($30 for a family, $50 for a business membership).

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, January 20th​​ in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

 

  • SAD #4 schools will not have school on​​ Monday, January​​ 20th​​ in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

 

  • The Recovery Wellness Community Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They offer all recovery meetings every Tuesday and Friday at 1:00 p.m., and crafting (different weekly) on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. ​​ They host NARNON meetings every Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m., NA every Monday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and SAY (Substance Affected Youth) Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ​​ All age youth are welcome. ​​ AA will start up on January 20th​​ and will hold meetings every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Noon. ​​ In addition, they are available during hours that they are open to assist with resources for those in addiction, recovery, and affected others. ​​ They are located at 20 Douty Hill Road in Sangerville. ​​ Please visit their Facebook page: Recovery Wellness Community Center.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle.

 

  • Just a friendly reminder​​ that all dogs six months and older must be licensed by​​ January 31, 2025, or a state mandated $25.00 late fee will apply. ​​ The fee for a male/female is $11.00, and $6.00 for a spayed or neutered dog. ​​ Please bring in your current rabies certificate and proof of sterilization if applicable. ​​ If your dog is microchipped, please bring in all that information as well. ​​ We need to know the manufacturer/brand of the chip. ​​ Thank you for your continued patience as the transition to the online platform does take longer than the paper ones we used to issue.

  • The fiscal year for the Town of Parkman ends on​​ Friday, January 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. ​​​​ Property taxes unpaid at that time will appear in the annual Town Report. ​​ Any requests to the Selectmen for articles in the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting must be received by the close of business on January 31, 2025.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

  • ATTENTION: ​​ The winter sand shed by the old barn at the Parkman Town Office is for Parkman residents only, personal use only, no commercial use. ​​ Please limit sand to​​ 2 five-gallon buckets per storm. ​​ Thank you!

 

  • The 2025 snowmobile registration and stickers are available. ​​ The fee is $60.00 for Maine residents, and $124.00 for non-residents. ​​ If you are registering your snowmobile for the​​ first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Snowmobiles DO NOT require a title.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ will be open​​ Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ​​ They can be reached at (207) 876-2681 if you have any questions. ​​ They are located at 85 Crow Hill Road in Parkman.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com​​ or fax to (207) 876-9704.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.​​ 

 

  • Reminder: If SAD #4 schools are closed due to inclement weather, the Parkman Town Office will be closed too.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-4221.

  • The Parkman Town Office can no longer accept Canadian change. ​​ The bank will not take it when we try to deposit it. ​​ We are sorry for the inconvenience. ​​ 

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • As of October 1, 2024, all 2024 unpaid property taxes are accruing interest at 8.5%.
