DECEMBER 2024 NEWSLETTER

  • Muzzleloader season is from December 2nd​​ through December 14th​​ and the cost for a muzzleloader license is $14.00.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, December 5th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • SANTA IS COMING TO THE PARKMAN GRANGE: ​​ On​​ Saturday, December 7th​​ from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.​​ Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to hear the kids’ wishes, take pictures, and hand out gifts. ​​ There will be 6 simple crafts to make for presents to give to family or friends. ​​ Christmas cookies and hot cocoa will be served. ​​ In the spirit of Christmas and giving, this party is a gift to the community from the Grange. ​​ The Parkman Grange is located at the corner of State Hwy 150 and North Dexter Road.

 

  • The Cambridge Community Clothes Closet is open​​ December 4th​​ and December 18th​​ from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and​​ December 7th​​ and December 21st​​ from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ They are in the basement of the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Road in Cambridge. ​​ All clothing is free. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-3234.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, December 10th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All are welcome to attend. ​​ Please help support the local snowmobile club by joining today. ​​ Applications are available at the Parkman Town Office ($30 for a family, $50 for a business membership).

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, December 12th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The distribution for the SAD #4 Santa Project will be on​​ Sunday, December 15th​​ from 10:00 a.m. to Noon at the Parkman Grange Hall.

 

  • SAD #4 Christmas break: Last day before break is a half a day, dismissal is at 11:30 on​​ Friday, December 20th. ​​ School will resume on​​ Monday, January 6, 2025.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED Monday, December 23-Wednesday, December 25th​​ in observance of Christmas.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend. ​​ They will have a candlelight Christmas Eve Service on​​ Tuesday, December 24th​​ at 6:00 p.m.

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • The 2025 snowmobile registration and stickers are available. ​​ The fee is $60.00 for Maine residents, and $124.00 for non-residents. ​​ If you are registering your snowmobile for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Snowmobiles DO NOT require a title.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle.

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at (207) 446-5459.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-4221.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • Just a friendly reminder that all dogs six months and older must be licensed by​​ January 31, 2025, or a state mandated $25.00 late fee will apply. ​​ The fee for a male/female is $11.00, and 6.00 for a spayed or neutered dog. ​​ The state has rolled out a new platform for us to use when registering dogs. ​​ Please continue to be patient with us during this transition. ​​ Please bring in your current rabies certificate and proof of sterilization if applicable. ​​ If your dog is microchipped, please bring in all that information as well. ​​ We need to know the manufacturer/brand of the chip.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that all vehicles 1998 or newer require a title.

 

  • As of October 1, 2024, all 2024 unpaid property taxes are accruing interest at 8.5%.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Wednesday, January 1, 2025,​​ in observance of New Year’s Day. ​​ We hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store: (207) 876-4111 and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: (207) 876-2681.

 

  • The fiscal year for the Town of Parkman ends on​​ Friday, January 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. ​​​​ Property taxes unpaid at that time will appear in the annual Town Report. ​​ Any requests to the Selectmen for articles in the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting must be received by the close of business on January 31, 2025.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ will be open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ​​ They can be reached at (207) 876-2681 if you have any questions. ​​ They are located at 85 Crow Hill Road in Parkman.​​ 

 

  • Starting May 1, 2025, when you register or re-register your vehicle, you will receive the new Pine Tree Plate. ​​ If you would like to reserve your current plate number, including vanity and low-digit plates, you are strongly encouraged to do so now by going to any BMV branch office, online at​​ www.maine.gov/online/reservemyplate, or by mailing in a paper form that is available at the Parkman Town Office or online at​​ www.maine.gov/sos/bmv/forms. ​​ There is a one-time fee of $25.00 to reserve your current plate number.
