PARKMAN NEWS—JULY 2020 EDITION
The 2020 tax bills were mailed on June 17, 2020. There is a 2% discount on tax bills paid in full within 30 days of postmark (Friday, July 17, 2020). Interest of 8% will begin accruing October 1, 2020.
The Planning Board will meet on Thursday, July 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.
The Parkman Town Office will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3rd in observance of Independence Day.
“Mystery Island!” The Parkman Baptist Church will be holding a Summer Bible Club beginning Thursday, July 9, 2020 and continuing each Thursday through August 6, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a free program for children ages 5 to 12 years old. There will be Bible lessons, fun songs, drama, games, crafts, and yummy snacks. Please register in advance by contacting Yvonne Davis at 717-5929. Extra safety measures have been made to assure social distancing and hand sanitizing stations will be in place when going from one activity to another. Come and let the adventure begin.
The Primary/Special Referendum Election will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. The deadline to change your political party is June 29th. Voting will take place in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Absentee ballots are available at the Parkman Town Office. The last day to request an absentee ballot without a Special Circumstances application is Thursday, July 9th. The Parkman Town Office will be CLOSED for business on Election Day.
The Transfer Station will be OPEN on July 4th from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.
The Board of Selectmen will meet on Thursday, July 9th and Thursday, July 23rd at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

The Transfer Station is open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. Please follow social distancing guidelines at the Transfer Station. Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle. If you do not have a sticker, please call 876-3730 so we can mail you one or stop by the Parkman Town Office during business hours to get one. They are free of charge.
The Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Bangor has reopened by appointment only. The number to schedule an appointment is 924-1319.
The 2020 Boat Registrations are available. If you are registering a boat for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at the time of registration. Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. Boats DO NOT require a title. We need the color of the boat and your Driver’s License or an unexpired State ID. This is a requirement from Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

White’s Family Redemption is open Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. They are closed Sunday and Monday. They are located on the Crow Hill Road. Please call 876-2681 outside of business hours.
ATV registrations expire on June 30, 2020. The fee for renewals is $46.00, and $47.00 for new registrations. Non-resident fee for renewal is $91.00 and $92.00 for new registrations. ATV’s DO NOT require a title. If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a dealer at the time of registration. We need the color of the ATV and your Driver’s License or an unexpired State ID at time of registration. This is a requirement from Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance or you can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to townofparkman@yahoo.com.
Minnie Bridge Scholarships applications are available at the Parkman Town Office for the 2nd year college students from Parkman. $500 scholarships will be awarded. The deadline for entries is August 14, 2020.
If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.
The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. If this is not your first marriage, please bring a copy of your divorce decree or death certificate when completing the application. Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.
The 2020 Any-Deer Permit Application is available online at www.mefishwildlife.com. The deadline for entries is August 17, 2020 by 11:59 p.m. A chance drawing will be held in September.

The Parkman Town Office is open Monday and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We are operating out of the window on the ramp for transactions. It really helps if you can call ahead with a time you are coming and what you want to register etc. so we can have it ready upon arrival. We ask that you respect social distancing as much as possible. If someone is at the window, please wait in your car until they are done. We accept credit cards in person and over the phone.
