PARKMAN NEWS—FEBRUARY 2020 EDITION
The Republican Caucus will be held on Saturday, February 1st at the Dover-Foxcroft Town Office on Morton Avenue. Doors will open at Noon, and the Caucus will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The snow date for the Republican Caucus is Saturday, February 8th.
The Parkman Grange Hall is closed for the winter, but will re-open in mid-March for the annual Town Meeting. The Grange will meet at Paul and Cheryl Yale’s home on Tuesday, February 4th at 5:00 p.m. For more information please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942.
The Planning Board will meet on Thursday, February 6th at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.
The Parkman Trailblazers will meet on Tuesday, February 11th at 6:00 p.m. at Wayne Libby’s house, 15 Libby Lane in Parkman off of the Crow Hill Road.
The Board of Selectmen will meet on Thursday, February 13th and Thursday, February 27th at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.
There will be a Public Hearing on Thursday, February 13th at 6:00 p.m. regarding a Marijuana Ordinance. The Public Hearing will be held in the library of the Parkman Town Office.
If you wish to change your political party (i.e. change from Democratic Party to Republican Party) for the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary, the deadline is Friday, February 14, 2020. If you are un-enrolled and decide to join a political party, you can do that on Election Day.
SAD #4 school vacation week is February 17th through the 21st. There will be an Early Release Day on Friday, February 14th and students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.
ATTENTION: The little winter sand shed by the old barn at the Parkman Town Office is for Parkman Residents ONLY. Please limit sand to 2 five-gallon buckets per storm.
The Parkman Town Office has the 2020 Open Water and Ice Fishing books available free of charge.

The Transfer Station is open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. There are new rules regarding household trash at the Transfer Station: Effective January 18, 2020, all recyclables now go into normal household trash as they have the equipment at the facility where our trash goes to separate the recyclables. You do not need to separate out cardboard, plastic, metal, or glass. Please note: There are no changes to handling of DEMO or Scrap Metal. These still go into the fenced dump-bins as before. The recycling building is still available to bring clothing and other household things.
Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance or you can have your insurance company fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to townofparkman@yahoo.com.
White’s Family Redemption Winter Hours are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday is a call-in day to see if they are there. Their number is 876-2681.
The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
Inland Fisheries and Wildlife requires patrons to bring in a valid driver’s license or unexpired State ID when obtaining a Hunting/Fishing License.
If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.
The Bicentennial Committee has 2020 calendars for sale at KC’s Country Store and at the Parkman Town office. The price has been reduced to $10 each. The committee will not be reprinting these calendars so come get one while you still can. All proceeds will go toward the 200th Celebration for the Town of Parkman.
The 2020 Snowmobile registration and stickers are available. The fee for a renewal is $46.00, and $47.00 for a new registration. Snowmobiles DO NOT require a title. Please bring in a valid driver’s license or unexpired State ID at time of registration.
New Law from Title Division: When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.
The 2020 Hunting/Fishing licenses are available for purchase at the Parkman Town Office. Hunting licenses are $28.00, Fishing are $27.00, Junior Hunt are $10.00, Combination Hunt/Fish are $45.00, and Archery are $27.00.

The Motor Vehicle Mobile Unit hours in Dover-Foxcroft: The 1st and last Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to Noon & 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall (112 Park Street, Dover-Foxcroft).
The State of Maine Legislature increased registration clerk fees for motor vehicles from $3 to $5 for renewals and from $4 to $6 for new registrations. Duplicate registrations were also impacted with an increase from $3 to $6.
There will be a Presidential Primary/Special Referendum Election on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Absentee ballots will be available. Please see March Edition of Parkman News for more information.
The Democratic Caucus will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford at 9 Campus Drive. Doors open at 1:00 p.m., and the caucus begins at 2:00 p.m. The snow date for the Democratic Caucus is Sunday, March 15, 2020.
The annual Town Meeting for the Town of Parkman will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall.
