PARKMAN NEWS—AUGUST 2024 EDITION

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, August 1st​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The 2024 Antlerless Deer Permit Lottery Application is available online at​​ www.mefishwildlife.com. ​​ The deadline for entries is​​ August 1, 2024, by​​ 11:59 p.m.

 

  • The 2% discount on the 2024 property tax bills for the Town of Parkman ends on​​ Friday, August 2, 2024. (postmarked that date will be accepted as well). ​​ Interest of 8.5% will begin accruing starting October 1, 2024.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will meet on​​ Monday, August 5th​​ at 5:30 pm. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This is a potluck event, and all are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, August 8th​​ and​​ Thursday, August 22nd​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants.

 

  • There will be a Strawberry Sundae Sunday Community Benefit for the Sangerville Food Cupboard on​​ August 11th​​ from Noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Universalist Unitarian Church (corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville). ​​ There will be live music, a silent auction, and make your own sundae. ​​ For advanced tickets ($10) please call (207) 997-3744. ​​ Walk-ins are welcome. ​​ This is a Rain or Shine event. ​​ The food cupboard is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome.

 

  • Please like and follow the Historical Society on Facebook. ​​ If you have old pictures, please share them on the page. ​​ They will be having an evening cookout on​​ Sunday, August 11th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the home of Keith and Ethel Swartley, 375 State Hwy 150 in Parkman. ​​ Bring a friend and something to share.

  • The first day of school for SAD #4 is​​ Tuesday, August 27th​​ for pre-k—freshman. ​​ Sophomores through Seniors start on​​ Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed on Sunday and Monday. ​​ They can be reached at (207) 876-2681 for questions and they will take bottles and cans on days they are closed if you call ahead.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that all vehicles 1999 or newer require a title.

 

  • The Cambridge Community Clothes Closet is open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ They are located at the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Road in Cambridge. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-3234.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, September 2, 2024,​​ in observance of Labor Day.

 

  • SAD #4 schools will be closed on​​ Monday, September 2, 2024.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Wednesday, September 4th​​ and​​ Thursday, September 5th​​ so the staff can attend Election Trainings.
