PARKMAN NEWS—JUNE 2024 EDITION

  • Free fishing weekend is​​ Saturday, June 1st​​ through Sunday, June 2nd. ​​ On these days, anyone (except those whose license has been suspended or revoked) may fish without a license. ​​ All other laws and regulations apply on these days.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, June 4th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, June 6th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will be having a fundraiser on​​ Thursday, June 6th. ​​ Visit Pat’s Pizza at their Dover-Foxcroft location and 10% of all food proceeds will go directly to the ATV Club.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will be having an ATV club ride and potluck BBQ on​​ Saturday, June 8th. ​​ The club will supply hamburgers and hotdogs. ​​ They will be meeting at KC’s Country Store at 8:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome!

 

  • Congratulations to all the 2024 PCHS graduates. ​​ Graduation is​​ Sunday, June 9th​​ at 1:00 p.m., and the last day of school for SAD #4​​ is​​ Friday, June 14th​​ and it is a half day with dismissal at 11:30 a.m.

 

  • The Primary Election and SAD #4 District Budget Validation Referendum will be held on​​ Tuesday, June 11, 2024. ​​ Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ Voting will take place in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Absentee ballots are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​​​ The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ for business on Election Day.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, June 13th​​ and​​ Thursday, June 27th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will meet on​​ Monday, June 17th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This is a potluck​​ event,​​ and all are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Wednesday, June 19th, in observation of Juneteenth National Independence Day.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.​​ to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants.

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s​​ Country Store: (207) 876-4111 and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: (207) 876-2681.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com. ​​ 

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that all vehicles 1999 or newer require a title.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed on Sunday and Monday. ​​ They can be reached at (207) 876-2681 for questions and they will take bottles and cans on days they are closed if you call ahead.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-4221.

 

  • ATV registrations expire June 30, 2024. ​​ Stickers are now available. ​​ The cost to register new and renewal ATV’s is $75.00 for Maine residents and $120.00 for non-residents. ​​​​ ATV’s DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer.

 

  • Applications for the Minnie Bridge Scholarship ($500) are available at the Parkman Town Office and at the bulletin board on the Grange porch. ​​ This scholarship is for 2nd​​ year higher education students in the SAD #4 area. ​​ Please mail the completed applications and all required materials to the Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The deadline to apply is​​ July 12, 2024. ​​ Winners will be announced in August.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Thursday, July 4th​​ and​​ Friday, July 5th​​ in observance of Independence Day.

 

  • Starting​​ May 1, 2025 (next year), when you register or re-register your vehicle, you will receive the new Pine Tree Plates. ​​ If you would like to reserve your current plate number, including vanity and low-digit plates you can do so by paying $25.00. ​​ This reservation process will start on​​ June 3, 2024. ​​ You​​ can go to any BMV branch office, online at maine.gov/online/reservemyplate, or by mailing in a paper form that is available at the Parkman Town Office or online at maine.gov/sos/bmv/forms. ​​ 

 

  • The 2024 boat registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title. ​​ Please bring in your current driver’s license or unexpired State ID at the time of registration.

 

  • The Cambridge Community Clothes Closet is open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ They are located at the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Road in Cambridge. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-3234.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note​​ that you must call the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • “Breaker Rock Beach” Summer Bible Camp will be held at the Parkman Baptist Church on​​ Thursday, July 11th, 18th, 25th, and August 1, 2024,​​ from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​​​ This is a free program for kids ages 5 to 12. ​​ Younger children are welcome to attend if accompanied by adults. ​​ There will be Bible stories, outdoor games, crafts, drama, and snacks each evening. ​​ There will be a water week with a water slide and other water activities on July 25th. ​​ For more information, please follow Parkman Baptist Church on Facebook.
