PARKMAN NEWS—APRIL 2024 EDITION

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, April 2nd​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Anyone interested in helping with community events is invited to come hear about their plans for the Spring. ​​ For more information, please contact Sue Manchester at (207) 717-6248.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, April 4th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Congratulations to those elected and re-elected at the Annual Town Meeting: Michael Perigo, Selectman; Jennifer Perigo, SAD #4 School Board Member; Thomas Sawyer, Planning Board Member; and Ann Clifford, Harvey Memorial Library Trustee.

 

  • SAD #4 schools will not be in session on​​ Monday, April 8th​​ due to the Solar Eclipse.​​ 

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will have their first official meeting/potluck on​​ Monday, April 8th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All are welcome to attend. ​​ Membership forms will be available at the meeting.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, April 9th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, April 11th​​ and​​ Thursday, April 25th​​ in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Historical Society will meet on​​ Friday, April 12th​​ at 5:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will be hosting their annual Daddy Daughter Dance on​​ Saturday, April 13th​​ from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ Young ladies of all ages are invited to come with their dad or an important guy in their life. ​​ Admission is $5.00 per person at the door. ​​ DJ Steve Boddy will be spinning tunes and having dance games for prizes. ​​ Keepsake photos will be taken to remember the evening.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, April 15th​​ in observance of Patriots Day.

 

  • SAD #4 School Vacation week is​​ April 15th​​ through April 19th. ​​ They will have an early release day on Friday, April 12th. ​​ Dismissal will be at 11:30 a.m.

  • New Title Law: Vehicles that are 26 model year and older will be exempt from the requirement for a certificate of title (1998 and older effective 01/01/2024).

 

  • The 2024 Moose Permit Lottery Applications will be accepted online only beginning April 1st​​ until May 15th​​ at 11:59 p.m.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • The 2024 boat registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title. ​​ Please bring in​​ your current​​ driver’s license or unexpired state ID at​​ the time​​ of registration.

 

  • The Transfer Station is​​ open on​​ Saturdays from​​ 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ It will be opening on Wednesdays beginning​​ May 1, 2024, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants.

 

  • Lance​​ Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at (207) 446-5459.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-4221.

 

  • Applications for the Minnie Bridge Scholarship ($500) are available at the Parkman Town Office and at the bulletin board on the Grange porch. ​​ This scholarship is for 2nd​​ year higher education students in the SAD #4 area. ​​ Please mail the completed applications and all required materials to the Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The deadline to apply is​​ July 12, 2024. ​​ Winners will be announced in August.

 

  • The Cambridge Community Clothes Closet is open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ They are located at the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Road in Cambridge. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-3234.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed on Sunday and Monday. ​​ They can be reached at (207) 876-2681 for questions and they will take bottles and cans on days they are closed if you call ahead.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store: (207) 876-4111 and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: (207) 876-2681.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.

 

  • The Parkman Grange is having their 22nd​​ Mother’s Day Tea on​​ Saturday, May 11th​​ from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ The guest of honor this year is Kellie Brasier. ​​ Tea, sandwiches, sweets, and beverages will be served. ​​ Live entertainment and lots of door prizes make this a special occasion which has become a Spring tradition for family and friends. ​​ Admission is $5 per person, under 5 is free. ​​ Reservations are required and can be made by calling Sue at (207) 717-6248.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license. ​​
