PARKMAN NEWS—JANUARY 2024 EDITION

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, January 1, 2024, in observance of New Years. ​​ We hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, January 4th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will​​ have a winter get together on​​ Monday, January 8th​​ at 5:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This will be a potluck event and all are welcome to come hang out and have a good time!

 

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, January 9th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • There will be a public hearing on​​ Thursday, January 11th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office regarding​​ amendments to the Solar Ordinance.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, January 11th​​ and​​ Thursday, January 25th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, January 15th​​ in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

 

  • SAD #4 schools will not have school on​​ Monday, January 15th​​ in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

 

  • Just a friendly reminder that all dogs six months and older must be licensed by​​ January 31, 2024, or a state mandated 25.00 late fee will apply. ​​ The fee for a male/female is $11.00, and $6.00 for a spayed or neutered dog.

 

  • SAD #4 schools will have an early release day on​​ Friday, January 26th. ​​ Dismissal is at 11:30 a.m.

 

  • The fiscal year for the Town of Parkman ends on​​ Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. ​​​​ Property taxes unpaid at that time will appear in the annual Town Report. ​​ Any requests to the Selectmen for articles in the warrant for the annual Town Meeting must be received by January 31st. ​​ 

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 446-5459.

 

  • New Title Law: Vehicles that are 26 model years and older will be exempt from the requirement for a certificate of title (1998 and older effective January 1, 2024).

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker available to show the attendants.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is no longer the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ Please reach out to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730​​ if you are interested in being the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman or if you have any animal issues.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store: 876-4111 and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.​​ 

 

  • Reminder: If SAD #4 schools are closed due to inclement weather, the Parkman Town Office will be closed too.

 

  • ATTENTION: ​​ The winter sand shed by the old barn at the Parkman Town Office is for Parkman residents only, personal use only, no commercial. ​​ Please limit sand to​​ 2 five-gallon buckets per storm. ​​ Thank you!

 

  • The Parkman Grange will not meet this month. ​​ The Grange Hall is closed for the winter and will reopen for Town Meeting in March of 2024.

 

  • As of October 1, 2023, all 2023 unpaid property taxes are accruing interest at 8%.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • The 2024 snowmobile registration and stickers are now available. ​​​​ The fee is $60.00 for residents, and $124.00 for non-residents. ​​ If you are registering your snowmobile for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a dealer at the time of registration. ​​ Snowmobiles DO NOT require a title.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed on Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on​​ Crow​​ Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ 876-2681 for questions or to reach them outside of business hours.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.
