PARKMAN NEWS—NOVEMBER 2023 EDITION

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, November 2nd​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Don’t forget to FALL BACK and set your clocks back one hour on​​ Sunday, November 5th​​ at 2:00 a.m.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, November 7th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Referendum Election will be held on​​ Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Polls will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. ​​ If you have not returned your absentee ballot, please do so by 8:00 p.m. on November 7th. ​​ The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ for business on Election Day.

 

  • There will be an informational meeting regarding a proposed Solar Farm in Parkman on​​ Wednesday, November 8th​​ at 6:00 p.m., in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, November 9th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Friday, November 10th​​ in observance of Veteran’s Day.

 

  • SAD #4 will not have school on​​ Friday, November 10th​​ in observance of Veteran’s Day.

 

  • The Parkman Grange is again helping Santa to make Christmas special for SAD #4 area kids with the Santa Project. ​​ This program provides warm winter coats, boots, and a toy to local children from newborn to high school seniors whose families could use a little help this holiday season. ​​ Applications can be picked up at the Parkman Town Office or from the Parkman Grange porch. ​​ They will also be distributed by the school. ​​ Application deadline is​​ November 11, 2023. ​​ Donations are gratefully accepted and can be mailed to the Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME 04443; please put the Santa Project in the memo line. ​​ For more information, please contact Sue Manchester at (207) 717-6248.​​ 

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, November 14th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will have a Hunter’s Supper on​​ Saturday, November 18th​​ at 4:30 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ The menu will include hot dogs and beans, coleslaw, seasonal vegetables, yeast rolls, desserts, and beverages. ​​ Meal is by cash donation to benefit the SAD #4 Santa Project.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will be having a toy drive on​​ Sunday, November 19th​​ at 5:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The toy drive is to benefit the Parkman Grange/ SAD #4 Santa Project. ​​ Bring a toy and an appetite as there will be a potluck supper as well.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Thursday, November 23rd​​ and​​ Friday, November 24th​​ in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

 

  • SAD #4 will not have school​​ Wednesday, November 22nd​​ through Friday, November 24th​​ for Thanksgiving break.

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. ​​ The hours are subject to change this month, so please call ahead to 876-2681.

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 446-5459.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle.

 

  • The 2024 Dog Licenses are now available. ​​ Reminder letters were sent out in October. ​​ If you would like to do your dog license renewal via mail, please remember to​​ enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope​​ so we can send you the new tag. ​​ The fee for a male/female is $11.00, and $6.00 for a spayed or neutered dog. ​​ All dogs six months and older must be licensed by​​ January 31, 2024, or a $25.00 state mandated late fee will apply. ​​ If you are coming in for the first time to register your dog, please bring in a current rabies certificate from your veterinarian and a spayed/neutered certificate if your dog has been fixed.

 

  • The last day of hunting season for firearms is November 25, 2023.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • New Title Law: ​​ As of October 25, 2023, vehicles that are 26 model years and older will be exempt from the requirement for a certificate of title.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • The 2024 snowmobile registration and stickers are now available. ​​ The fee is $60.00 for residents, and $124.00 for non-residents. ​​ If you are registering your snowmobile for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a dealer at the time of registration. ​​ Snowmobiles DO NOT require a title.

 

  • Save the date: December 9th​​ 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. the Parkman Grange will have their annual Kids Christmas party at the Parkman Grange Hall.
