PARKMAN NEWS—AUGUST 2023 EDITION

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will meet on​​ Monday, July 31st​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The 2023 Antlerless Deer Permit Lottery Application is available online at​​ www.mefishwildlife.com. ​​ The deadline for entries is​​ August 1, 2023, by 11:59 p.m.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, August 1st​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ All are welcome to attend. ​​ For more information, please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, August 3rd​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will be having a club ride on​​ Saturday, August 5th. ​​ All are welcome to join. ​​ They will be meeting at KC’s Country Store at 8:00 a.m. and riding to Bingham. ​​ Please bring snacks and lunch.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Tuesday, August 8th, Wednesday, August 9th,​​ and​​ Thursday, August 10th​​ for staff to attend Motor Vehicle trainings.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, August 10th​​ and​​ Thursday, August 24th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Minnie Bridge Scholarship Supper will be held on​​ Saturday, August 12th​​ from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ The menu will include smoked pork loin, vegetable side dishes, yeast rolls, desserts, and beverages. ​​ Supper is by donation; all proceeds will go directly to the scholarship fund. ​​ Winners of the Minnie Bridge Scholarship will be announced at the supper.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will be having their first Appreciation Dinner on​​ Saturday, August 19th​​ at 3:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.​​

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

  • The Historical Society will host an evening picnic on​​ Sunday, August 20th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the home of Keith and Ethel Swartley, 375 State Hwy 150 in Parkman. ​​ All are welcome to attend and encouraged to bring old photos.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The 136th​​ Piscataquis Valley Fair will take place​​ Thursday, August 24th​​ through Sunday, August 27, 2023,​​ at the Fairgrounds in​​ Dover-Foxcroft. ​​ For a complete list of events go to​​ www.piscataquisvalleyfair.com.​​ 

 

  • The first day of school for SAD #4 is​​ Tuesday, August 29th​​ for pre-k to freshman. ​​ Sophomores through Seniors start on​​ Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed on Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at the time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that when doing a private sale, a 1995 to current year vehicle will need a title indefinitely.

 

  • Interest of 8%​​ will begin accruing​​ October 1,​​ 2023,​​ on​​ all unpaid 2023 property taxes.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.
