PARKMAN NEWS—JULY 2023 EDITION

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, July 3rd​​ and​​ Tuesday, July 4th​​ in observance of Independence Day.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will not meet this month.

 

  • The Planning Board will not meet this month.

 

  • The 2023 tax bills have been mailed. ​​ There is a 2% discount on tax bills paid in full within 30 days of postmark (Friday, July 28, 2023). ​​ Interest of 8% will begin accruing starting October 1, 2023.

 

  • You’re invited to the Castle! ​​ “Keepers of the Kingdom” Summer Bible Camp will be held at the Parkman Baptist Church on​​ Thursday, July 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th​​ from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ This is a free program for kids ages 5 to 12. ​​ There will be Bible stories, songs, games, crafts, prizes, and drama. ​​ July 20th​​ is Water Week and July 27th​​ is Obstacle Course Week. ​​ Families are invited to join in to enjoy a closing program with a BBQ and make your own ice cream sundae at 7:30 p.m. on July 27th.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will meet on​​ Monday, July 10th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, July 13th​​ and​​ Thursday, July 27th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Minnie Bridge Scholarship applications are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This $500 scholarship is for second year higher education students in the SAD #4 area. ​​ Please mail completed applications and all required materials to the Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The deadline is​​ July 14, 2023. ​​ A supper will be held to present winners on​​ Saturday, August 12th​​ from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. ​​ The menu will include smoked pork loin, vegetable side dishes, yeast rolls, desserts, and beverages. ​​ Supper will be by donation; all proceeds will go directly to the scholarship fund.

  • The Parkman Baptist​​ Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accept electronic proof of insurance, or you can have our insurance agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.​​ 

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed on Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681.

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 446-5459.

 

  • The Transfer Station is​​ open on​​ Wednesdays​​ from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants.

 

  • ATV registrations expired on June 30, 2023. ​​ Stickers are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The cost of a renewal is $71.00 and for a new registration $72.00. ​​ ATV’s DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer. ​​ 

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the​​ corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at the time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that when doing a private sale, a 1995 to current year vehicle will need a title indefinitely. ​​ 

 

  • The 2023 boat registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at the time of registration. ​​ Registration is based on length of the boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.
