PARKMAN NEWS—MAY 2023 EDITION

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, May 2nd​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Anyone interested in helping with community events is invited to attend. ​​ For more information, please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942.

 

  • The Transfer Station will be open on Wednesdays beginning​​ May 3, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ​​ They are also open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, May 4th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, May 11th​​ and​​ Thursday, May 25th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange is having their 21st​​ Mother’s Day Tea on​​ Saturday, May 13th​​ from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ The guest of honor this year is Kylee Coburn. ​​ Tea fare, sandwiches, and sweet treats will be served. ​​ Emma Calnan and Julie Harrington will provide​​ the​​ entertainment. ​​ There will be plenty of door prizes given away, and there will be a 50/50 raffle. ​​ The cost is $5.00 per person. ​​ Seating is limited to this very popular event. ​​ Reservations are required and can be made by calling Sue at 277-3942.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowler’s​​ ATV Club is looking to start back up as a club. ​​ There will be an informational meeting on​​ Monday, May 15th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All interested are urged to attend. ​​ Refreshments will be provided.

 

  • The Moose permit applications are available online at​​ www.maine.gov/ifw. ​​ The deadline for completion is by 11:59 p.m. on May 15, 2023. ​​ The Moose lottery drawing will be held in June of 2023.

 

  • The Town of Parkman will be having Clean-up Days on​​ Wednesday, May 17th​​ and​​ Saturday, May 20, 2023. ​​ There will be NO CHARGE for Demo at the Transfer Station on these two days. ​​ You must have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is now the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c).

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 446-5459.

 

  • The 2023 boat registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration is based on length of the boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, May 29th​​ in observance of Memorial Day.

 

  • The SAD #4 District Budget Meeting will be held on​​ Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. in the PCES cafeteria. ​​ There will be an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the PCES cafeteria for citizens to have the proposed budget explained and to ask questions.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Parkman are accepting bids for the Snow Plow Contract for the Town of Parkman. ​​ Each bid must be in writing and in a sealed envelope marked “Snow Plow Bid” on the outside. ​​ All bids must be received by the Selectmen no later than​​ Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. ​​​​ Late bids will not be opened or considered. ​​ Description of contract is available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This is a 3-year bid with the option to renew for another 2 years. ​​ Bids will be opened and reviewed by the Selectmen at the Town Office on June 7th​​ at 5:30 p.m. ​​ The Board of Selectmen reserve the right to reject any and all bids.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • ATV registrations are now available. ​​ The cost for a renewal is $71.00 and for a new registration $72.00. ​​ ATV’s DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.​​ 

 

  • Minnie Bridge Scholarship applications are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This $500 scholarship is for 2nd​​ year higher education students in the SAD #4 area. ​​ Please mail completed applications and all required materials to the Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The deadline is​​ July 14, 2023.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at the time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that when doing a private sale, a 1995 to current year vehicle will need a title indefinitely.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • The SAD #4 Budget Referendum will be held on​​ Tuesday, June 13, 2023. ​​ Polls will be open 8:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m. ​​ Voting will take place in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​​​ Absentee ballots will be available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681. ​​​​ Please note that during the month of May, Danny might not be available to count bottles until noon. ​​ Please call 343-3052 or 876-2681 if you are bringing bottles before noon time. ​​ Thank you.
