PARKMAN NEWS—JUNE 2023 EDITION

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, June 1st​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Free fishing weekend is​​ Saturday, June 3rd​​ through Sunday, June 4th. ​​ On these days, anyone (except those whose license has been suspended or revoked) may fish without a license. ​​ All other laws and regulations apply on these days.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, June 6th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Parkman are accepting bids for the Snow Plow Contract for the Town of Parkman. ​​ Each bid must be in writing and in a sealed envelope marked “Snow Plow Bid” on the outside. ​​ All bids must be received by the Selectmen no later than​​ Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. ​​​​ Late bids will not be opened or considered. ​​ Description of contract is available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This is a 3-year bid with the option to renew for another 2 years. ​​ Bids will be opened and reviewed by the Selectmen at the Town Office on June 7th​​ at 5:30 p.m. ​​ The Board of Selectmen reserve the right to reject any and all bids.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Wednesday, June 7th​​ and​​ Thursday, June 22nd​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Congratulations to all the 2023 PCHS graduates, especially Parkman’s own Emma Calnan and Kendall Kimball. ​​ Emma is graduating Valedictorian, and Kendall is graduating Salutatorian ​​​​ Graduation is​​ Sunday, June 11th​​ at 1:00 p.m.,​​ and the last day of school for SAD #4 is​​ Friday, June 16th​​ and it is a half day with dismissal at 11:30 a.m.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will meet on​​ Monday, June 12th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The SAD #4 Budget Referendum will be held on​​ Tuesday, June 13, 2023. ​​ Polls will be open 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ Voting will take place in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Absentee ballots are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ for business on that day.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will be having a fundraiser on​​ Thursday, June 15, 2023. ​​ Visit Pat’s Pizza at their Dover location and 10% of all food proceeds will go directly to the ATV Club.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, June 19, 2023, in observation of Juneteenth National Independence Day.

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed on Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681.

 

  • Minnie Bridge Scholarship applications are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This $500 scholarship is for second year higher education students in the SAD #4 area. ​​ Please mail completed​​ applications and all required materials to the Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The deadline is​​ July 14, 2023.​​ 

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is now the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c).

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 446-5459.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants.

 

  • ATV registrations expire June 30, 2023. ​​ Stickers are now available. ​​ The cost of renewal is $71.00 and for a new registration $72.00. ​​ ATV’s DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are​​ registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The 2023 boat registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration is based on length of the boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at the time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that when doing a private sale, a 1995 to current year vehicle will need a title indefinitely. ​​ 

 

  • You’re invited to the Castle! ​​ “Keepers of the Kingdom” Summer Bible Camp will be held at the Parkman Baptist Church on​​ Thursday, July 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th​​ from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ This is a free program for kids ages 5 to 12. ​​ There will be Bible stories, songs, games, crafts, prizes, and drama. ​​ July 20th​​ is Water Week and July 27th​​ is Obstacle Course Week. ​​ Families are invited to join in to enjoy a closing program with a BBQ and make your own ice cream sundae at 7:30 p.m. on July 27th.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.
