PARKMAN NEWS—OCTOBER 2022 EDITION

  • As of​​ October 1, 2022, all unpaid property taxes are accruing interest of 4%.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, October 4th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ They will be​​ planning fall activities, and all are invited to join them. ​​ For more information, please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Wednesday, October 5th​​ and​​ Thursday, October 6th​​ so staff can attend the MMA Convention.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, October 6th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Town of Parkman will have a Fall Clean-up Day on​​ Saturday, October 8th. ​​ There will be NO CHARGE for DEMO at the Transfer Station that day.

 

  • SAD #4 will not have school on​​ Friday, October 7th​​ due to a teacher workshop day or​​ Monday, October 10th​​ for Indigenous Peoples Day.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, October 10th​​ in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, October 11th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, October 13th​​ and​​ Thursday, October 27th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will be having a Veteran’s Benefit Public Supper on​​ Saturday, October 15th​​ from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ​​ The menu will include ham, potato dishes, seasonal veggies, yeast rolls, and gingerbread. ​​ Meal is by donation, veterans and active military eat for free.

 

  • Stephen Lackey is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman: 343-2013.

 

  • For the month of October, a container will be provided at the Transfer Station to accept used tires. ​​ The prices are as follows: cars and pickups are $5.00; truck tires are $15.00; and tractor tires are $25.00. ​​ The container will be removed at the end of October.

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 446-5459.

 

  • The 2023 Dog Licenses will be available on​​ Friday, October 14, 2022. ​​ The fee for a male/female is $11.00, and $6.00 for a spayed or neutered dog. ​​ All dogs must be licensed by January 31, 2023,​​ or a $25.00 state mandated late fee will apply. ​​ Reminder letters will go out in the mail in October, and each letter will have a reminder if we need your dog’s current rabies certificate.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you​​ can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • Youth Hunting Day is​​ Saturday, October 22, 2022. ​​ Hunting with firearms begins on​​ Saturday, October 29th​​ for​​ Maine residents​​ and Monday, October 31st​​ for all hunters. ​​ The last day of hunting season for firearms is November 26, 2022.

 

  • The Transfer Station is no longer open on Wednesdays. ​​ They are open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer​​ Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle.

 

  • The Historical Society will meet on​​ Sunday, October 23rd​​ at 2:00 p.m. at Sue Griffith’s home at 433 North Dexter Road.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open​​ the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • The Town of Parkman participates in the​​ MOSES program for all recreational licenses and atv’s, boats, and snowmobiles. ​​ You must bring in a valid drivers license and vin number or previous registration for atv’s, boats, and snowmobiles when coming in to register these. ​​ If you are registering for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a dealer at the time of registration. ​​ For boats, registration fee is based on length of the boat and horsepower.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They will continue to take drop offs outside of these hours, but please call to ensure someone is​​ available. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681. ​​ Please note that they will be​​ CLOSED​​ on the first day of Hunting Season;​​ Saturday, October 29, 2022.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy,​​ and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • The Parkman Grange would like to thank everyone that has helped them out by donating returnables at the Transfer Station. ​​ It adds up and helps them pay their bills. ​​ They​​ appreciate your support.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church will be holding a TRUNK OR TREAT on​​ Monday, October 31st​​ from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. ​​ Kids and their parents are welcome to come get treats. ​​ This event will be held at the Parkman Baptist Church. ​​ If you have any questions, please contact Yvonne Davis at 717-5929.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.

 

  • The SAD #4 Santa Project is underway. ​​ Applications can be picked up at the Parkman Town Office or from the bulletin board on the Grange porch. ​​ This program provides coats, boots, and a toy to kids in our school district whose families could use a little help this Christmas. ​​ If you would like to help with a donation it can be sent to the Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443. ​​ Checks should be made out to​​ the Parkman Grange, memo line: Santa Project. ​​ Any questions please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942.

 

  • The General Election will be held on​​ Tuesday, November 8, 2022, in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Absentee ballots will be available at​​ the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Polls will be open 8:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m.
