PARKMAN NEWS—JULY 2022 EDITION

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, July 4th​​ in observance of Independence Day.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, July 5th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, July 7th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office

 

  • The 2022 tax bills have been mailed. ​​ There is a 2% discount on tax bills paid in full within 30 days of postmark (Friday, July 29, 2022). ​​ Interest of 4% will begin accruing October 1, 2022.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee will meet on​​ Monday, July 11th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If you would like to volunteer or have said you will volunteer, please attend this important meeting. ​​ It is the very last meeting before the Bicentennial Celebration, and we will go over all final details.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, July 14th​​ and​​ Thursday, July 28th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • On The Case​​ Summer Bible Camp will be held on​​ Thursday, July 7th​​ and​​ Thursday, July 14th​​ from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Parkman Baptist Church. ​​ Kids ages 5-12 are welcome. ​​ Younger kids may come if accompanied by an adult. ​​ This free program will include a Bible story, songs, crafts, outdoor games, drama, and a snack each week.

 

  • There will be a Cornhole Competition at the Bicentennial Celebration on​​ Saturday, July 23rd. ​​ It begins at 2:30 p.m. ​​ There is a $10 registration fee. ​​ Teams will be drawn and stay together throughout the tournament. ​​ Each member of the winning team will receive a set of cornhole boards with bags, custom made and donated by Travis Easler. ​​ Please contact the Parkman Town Office to pre-register, accepting only 10 teams (20 people). ​​ You will be able to pre-register on the morning of the Bicentennial Celebration at the Merchandise booth​​ if there are still spots available. ​​ Registration cut off will be at 2:00 p.m. on the day of the event. ​​ 

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Friday, July 22nd​​ to prepare for the Bicentennial Celebration.

 

  • The Transfer Station will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Saturday, July 23rd​​ for the Bicentennial Celebration.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

  • The Town of Parkman​​ is now participating in the MOSES program for all recreational licenses and atv’s, boats, and snowmobiles. ​​ Please have patience with us while we learn this program. ​​ You must bring in a valid drivers license and vin number or previous registrations for​​ atv’s,​​ boats, and snowmobiles when coming in to register these. ​​ ATV’s have increased this season to $71.00 for a renewal and $72.00 for a new for residents, and $116.00 for renewal​​ and $117.00 for a new for non-residents. ATV’s ​​ do not require a title. ​​ If you are registering for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a dealer at the time of registration. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title.

 

  • Stephen Lackey is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 343-2013. ​​ He deals with domestic animals only, please call a Game Warden for wildlife issues.

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached​​ at 446-5459.

 

  • The Bicentennial Celebration for the Town of Parkman will be held on​​ Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 38 North Dexter Road (field of B & K Storage). ​​ A complete schedule of events is available at the Parkman Town Office, KC’s Country Store, and on the Facebook Event page for the Bicentennial Celebration. ​​ There will be a Kids Fun Run sponsored by Community Fitness to kick off the day at 10:00 a.m. at the Town Office. ​​ Parents will register their children and there are free t-shirts until they run out. ​​ Each child that completes the run will get a popsicle. ​​ The parade will start at 11:00 a.m. and go from the field across from the Town Office to B & K Storage on the North Dexter Road. ​​ Following the parade, there will be crafters/vendors, kids games, bounce houses, Bicentennial merchandise (both at the field and at the Parkman Grange Hall), Antique car​​ show, Food Trucks, live entertainment all afternoon and evening, free horse and carriage rides sponsored by the Bicentennial Committee, a cornhole competition, a talk on the 1800s murder in Parkman, a baked bean Grange supper, fireworks, and more. ​​ There will be something for everyone. ​​ The Historical Society​​ will be at the Parkman Grange Hall where they will have a raffle for a one-of-a-kind Bicentennial pillow and blanket as well as a raffle for a​​ one-of-a-kind​​ Bicentennial dove tail bat. ​​ The​​ winners will be announced before the Grange supper. ​​ We hope to see you there​​ and​​ it is suggested that you bring a chair.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will have a Bean Supper on​​ Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Menu will include hot dogs, beans, coleslaw, chop suey, dinner rolls, and a Bicentennial cake. ​​ Meal is by donation and all proceeds go to the Parkman Grange. ​​ The winners of the Minnie Bridge Scholarship will be awarded after the supper.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your transfer station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle. ​​ 

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They will continue to take drop offs outside of these hours, but please call to ensure someone is available. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee has t-shirts ($15 for youth to Adult XL and $20 for 2XL and 3XL), 2022 Calendars (reduced to $10), Bicentennial books ($15), koozies ($3), Bicentennial Mugs ($10), and tote bags ($10) for purchase at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ They will also be available at the Celebration, along with long sleeve tees ($20), and hooded sweatshirts ($25 for up to XL, and $30 for 2XL and 3XL).

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • The Grange will have a Daddy/Daughter Dance on​​ Friday, August 12th​​ from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Admission is $5 per person. ​​ There will be DJ music, door prizes, dance contests, and snacks.

 

  • The 2022 Anterless Deer Permit Lottery Application is available online only at​​ www.mefishwildlife.com. ​​ The deadline for entries is​​ August 1, 2022, ​​ by 11:59 p.m.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first​​ marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.
