PARKMAN NEWS—JUNE 2022 EDITION

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, June 7th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, June 9th​​ and​​ Thursday, June 23rd​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Primary and SAD #4 Budget Validation Referendum will be held on​​ Tuesday, June 14, 2022. ​​ Polls will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. ​​ Voting will take place in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Absentee ballots are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Thursday, June 9th​​ is the last day to get an absentee ballot without a Special Circumstances Application. ​​ The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED for business on Election Day.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Thursday, June 16, 2022.

 

  • Congratulations to all the 2022 PCHS graduates! ​​ The last day of school for SAD #4 is​​ Friday, June 17, 2022, and it is a half day with dismissal at 11:30 a.m.

 

  • The Parkman​​ Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, June 20, 2022,​​ in observation of​​ Juneteenth National Independence Day.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Tuesday, June 21st​​ so staff can attend a training.

 

  • The Bicentennial​​ Committee will meet on​​ Wednesday, June 22nd​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The Committee will be putting the final touches on the Bicentennial Celebration, and all are encouraged to attend.

 

  • Minnie Bridge Scholarship applications are available at the Town Offices of SAD #4 (Abbot, Cambridge, Guilford, Parkman, and Sangerville). ​​ The $500 scholarship is open to a second year + college, technical, and community college students. ​​ The deadline for applications is​​ Thursday, June 30, 2022. ​​ Please mail applications and all required materials to Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Agent D is recruiting Agents of Truth for Parkman Baptist Church’s Summer Bible Camp. ​​ On The Case​​ recruits should show up at the church on​​ Thursday, June 23rd​​ 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​​​ (And each Thursday through July 14th). ​​ Kids ages 5-12 are welcome. ​​ Younger kids may come if accompanied by an adult. ​​ This free program will include a Bible story, songs, crafts, outdoor games, drama, and a snack each week. ​​ Agent D hopes to see you there!

 

  • The Bicentennial​​ Committee has t-shirts for sale at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ They are $15.00 each for youth through adult XL sizes, and $20.00 each for XXL and XXXL. ​​ Colors are pink, teal, gray, black, and green.

 

  • The 2022/2023 ATV Registrations and stickers are available. ​​ Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has increased the price of ATV registrations. ​​ For a renewal the cost is $71.00, and for a new registration $72.00. ​​ Non resident ATV renewals are $116.00, and $117.00 for a new registration. ​​ If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a dealer at the time of registration. ​​ ATV’s ​​ DO NOT require a title. ​​ We need the color of the ATV and your Driver’s License or an unexpired State ID at the time of registration.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 446-5459.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They will continue to take drop offs outside of these hours, but please call to ensure someone is available. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681. ​​ 

 

  • The Parkman Historical Society has raffle tickets for a one-of-a-kind Bicentennial pillow and blanket. ​​ Tickets are $5.00 each and available at the Parkman Town Office and KC’s Country Store. ​​ Drawing will be held at the Bicentennial Celebration on Saturday, July 23, 2022. ​​ Only 300 tickets are being sold, so get yours before they are sold out.

 

  • The 2022 Boat Registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title. ​​ We also need the color of the boat and your Driver’s License or unexpired State ID per requirement of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee has reusable shopping totes for purchase for $10.00 each, Bicentennial​​ koozies for $3.00 each, and Bicentennial mugs for $10.00 each. ​​ All are available at the Parkman Town Office and all proceeds go to the 200th​​ Celebration for the Town of Parkman.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from​​ 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • Stephen Lackey is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 343-2013. ​​ He deals with domestic animals only, please call a Game Warden for wildlife issues.

 

  • If you would like to rent the Parkman Grange Hall, please contact Don Pepin at 343-0274.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle. ​​

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your​​ first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • SAVE THE DATE: ​​ The Bicentennial Celebration for the Town of Parkman will be held on​​ Saturday, July 23, 2022, at B & K Storage on the North Dexter Road (in the field). ​​ The parade will start at 11:00 a.m. and go from the field across from the Parkman Town Office to B & K Storage. ​​ Following the parade, there will be​​ a kids fun run (free popsicles to all that finish the run and free kids t-shirts while supplies last),​​ an Antique Car show, Food Trucks, bounce houses and kids games, cornhole competition, live entertainment all afternoon and evening, horse and carriage rides,​​ a talk on the 1800s​​ murder in Parkman, a Grange supper, fireworks, and more! ​​ We hope to see you there! ​​ ​​ A complete schedule of events will be available later this month/beginning of July.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will have a Bean Supper on​​ Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Menu will include hot dogs, beans, coleslaw, chop suey, dinner rolls, and a Bicentennial cake. ​​ Meal is by donation and all proceeds go to the Parkman Grange.
