PARKMAN NEWS—MAY 2022 EDITION

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Monday, May 2nd​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Anyone interested in helping with community events is invited to attend. For more​​ information, please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942.

 

  • The Transfer Station will be open on Wednesdays beginning​​ May 4, 2022, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ​​ They are also open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle. ​​ 

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, May 5th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange is having their 20th​​ Mother’s Day Tea on​​ Saturday, May 7th​​ from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ The guest​​ of honor is Tylene Kimball, who in 2000 came up with the idea to have a tea to honor mothers. ​​ Tea fare, sandwiches, and sweet treats will be served. ​​ Bobby Kimball and Julie Harrington will provide entertainment. ​​ There will be plenty of door prizes given away, and there will be a 50/50 raffle. ​​ Tickets sold fast for this popular event. ​​ Please contact Sue at 277-3942 to see if there is any seating left.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee will meet on​​ Tuesday, May 10th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All are encouraged to attend this meeting in planning the 200th​​ Celebration for the Town of Parkman on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, May 12th​​ and​​ Thursday, May 26th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the​​ library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Town of Parkman will be having a Clean-up Days​​ on​​ Wednesday, May 11th​​ ​​ and​​ Saturday, May 14th​​ . ​​ There will be NO CHARGE for Demo at the Transfer Station​​ on these two days. ​​ You must have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the​​ attendants.

 

  • The moose permit applications are available online at​​ www.maine.gov/ifw. ​​ The deadline for completion is by 11:59 p.m. on​​ May 12, 2022. ​​ The Moose Lottery drawing will be held in June.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, May 30th​​ in observance of Memorial Day.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Stephen Lackey is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 343-2013. ​​ He deals with domestic animals only, please contact a Game Warden for wildlife issues.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • If you would like to rent the Parkman Grange Hall, please contact Don Pepin at 343-0274.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic​​ proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • Lance Johnson is the Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for the Town of​​ Parkman. ​​ He can be reached at 446-5459.

 

  • The Sangerville Food Cupboard (Universalist Unitarian Church) is open the first and third Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church and Main Street in downtown Sangerville. ​​ For more information, please call 277-4221.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • Calling all Volunteers: Volunteers needed for the Town of Parkman’s Bicentennial Celebration on​​ Saturday, July 23, 2022. ​​ Please text Kylee Coburn at 717-0865 if interested.

 

  • The 2022 Boat Registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title. ​​ We also need the color of the boat and your Driver’s License or unexpired State ID per requirement of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman. ​​ They​​ will continue to take drop offs outside of these hours, but please call to ensure someone is available. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681.

 

  • Minnie Bridge Scholarship applications are available at the Town Offices of SAD #4 (Abbot, Cambridge, Guilford, Parkman, and Sangerville). ​​ The $500 scholarship is open to a second year + college, technical, and community college students. ​​ The deadline for applications is​​ Thursday, June 30, 2022. ​​ Please mail applications and all required materials to Parkman Grange, PO BOX, 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • The SAD #4 District Budget Meeting will be held on​​ Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the PCES cafeteria. ​​ There will be an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the PCES cafeteria for citizens to have the proposed budget explained and to ask questions.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.

 

  • The Primary and SAD #4 Budget Validation Referendum will be held on​​ Tuesday, June 14, 2022. ​​ Polls will be open 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and voting will take place in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Absentee ballots will be available.

 

  • ATV registrations will be available mid-May. ​​ Inland Fisheries has increased the price of ATV registrations. ​​ For a renewal the cost is $71.00, and for a new registration $72.00. ​​ ATV’s ​​ DO NOT require a title. ​​ Inland Fisheries requires patrons to bring in a valid drivers license or unexpired State ID when registering an ATV.
