PARKMAN NEWS—AUGUST 2021 EDITION

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, August 5th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, August 9, 2021.

 

  • Giddy-Up Junction: Taking God’s Love to New Frontiers: The Parkman Baptist Church will be continuing their VBS from July each Thursday through August 12, 2021. ​​ This is a free program for children ages 5 to 12 years old. ​​ Under 5 years old are welcome with​​ an adult. ​​ There will be Bible stories, fun songs, crafts, exciting drama, games, and yummy snacks each week. ​​ For more information, please contact Yvonne Davis at 717-5929.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, August 12th​​ and​​ Thursday, August 26th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee will meet on​​ Wednesday, August 18th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ All are welcome to attend this meeting to plan for the 200th​​ Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, July 23, 2022.

 

  • The 2021 Any-Deer Permit Application is available online at​​ www.mefishwildlife.com. ​​ The deadline for entries is​​ August 17, 2021, by 11:59 p.m. ​​​​ A chance drawing will be held in September.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle. ​​ If you do not have a​​ sticker, please contact the Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ They are free of charge.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of​​ Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c).

 

  • If you would like to rent the Parkman Grange Hall, please contact Don Pepin at 343-0274. ​​ Please disregard the fillable form on the Town’s website, contact Don directly.

 

  • Proof of insurance is​​ required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com. ​​ 

 

  • All unpaid 2021 property taxes begin accruing interest of 6% on​​ October 1, 2021.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee has tickets for purchase for a one of a kind personalized .17 HMR Henry Golden Boy gun. ​​ There is a​​ limited supply of 500 tickets. ​​ Tickets are $10.00 each and are available at the Parkman Town Office, KC’s Country Store, Herring Brothers, and from Tricia Elderkin. ​​ The drawing will be held on​​ Saturday, November 20, 2021, following a Hunter’s Supper and​​ Pie Auction.

 

  • Fire Permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • ATV registrations and stickers are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The fee for a renewal is $46.00, and​​ $47.00 for a new registration. ​​ Non-resident fee for a renewal is $91.00 and $92.00 for a new registration. ​​ ATV’s DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a​​ dealer at the time of registration. ​​ We need the color of the ATV and your Driver’s License or an unexpired State ID at time of registration. ​​ This is a requirement from Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday​​ through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ They can be reached at 876-2681 and are located on the Crow Hill Road in Parkman.

 

  • The Universalist Unitarian Church of Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft Food Cupboard is open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ They are located at the corner of Church Street and Main Street in downtown Sangerville.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at the time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate of prior spouse when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • The Piscataquis Valley Fair will take place​​ Thursday, August 26th​​ through Sunday,​​ August 29, 2021​​ at the Fairgrounds in Dover-Foxcroft. ​​ There will be fireworks on Thursday, August 26th​​ at 9:00 p.m. and a Demolition Derby at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 29th. ​​ For a complete list of events go to​​ www.piscataquisvalleyfair.com. ​​

  • The 2021 Boat Registrations are available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid​​ at dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title. ​​ We also need the color of the boat and your Driver’s License or unexpired State ID per requirement of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
