PARKMAN NEWS—NOVEMBER 2020 EDITION

  • Don’t forget to FALL BACK and set your clocks back one hour on​​ Sunday, November 1st​​ at 2:00 a.m.

 

  • The General Election will be held on​​ Tuesday, November 3, 2020. ​​ Polls will be open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. ​​ Voting will take place in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ We will be practicing social distancing and having less voter booths available. ​​ Absentee ballots​​ are available at the Parkman Town Office until 5:00 p.m. on​​ Monday, November 2nd.  ​​ ​​​​ If you have not returned your absentee ballot, please do so by 8:00 p.m. on November 3, 2020. ​​ If you have any questions regarding Election, please call the Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ for business on Election Day.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, November 5th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • As of October 1st, all unpaid taxes are accruing interest of 8%.

 

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, November 10th​​ at 6:00 p.m.​​ in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Wednesday, November 11th​​ in observance of Veteran’s Day.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, November 12th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange is again coordinating the MSAD#4 Santa Project with a few changes this year. ​​ The Santa Project provides a winter coat, boots, and a toy to children in the SAD#4 school district whose families need a little help this Christmas. ​​ Applications are available at school and at the Town Offices of Guilford, Parkman, Sangerville, Abbot, and Cambridge. ​​ Applications must be returned by mail or at the locked box at the Parkman Grange. ​​ The deadline is​​ November 13, 2020. ​​ The​​ distribution will be on​​ Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 10 am to Noon​​ at the Parkman Grange. ​​ It will be a drive thru event that will include a turkey dinner from the Masons. ​​ Due to COVID precautions the Parkman Grange is not having their annual Hunter’s Supper which helps finance this program. ​​ The Grange anticipates a greater need this year, so donations from the community are especially needed this year. ​​ Donations can be made at the Parkman Town Office or KC’s Country Store. ​​ Checks can be made out to Parkman Grange, memo line: Santa project and sent to PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443. ​​ Another way to help is by sponsoring a child from the Angel Tree at KC’s Country Store​​ and buying a coat or boots. ​​ For more information please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942 or check their Facebook page.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please follow social distancing guidelines at the Transfer Station. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle. ​​ If you do not have a sticker, please contact the Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ They are free of charge.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ​​ Closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ Please call 876-2681 after 4:00 p.m. with any questions. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Thursday, November 26th​​ and Friday, November 27th​​ in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

 

  • Hunting with firearms begins on​​ Saturday, October 31st​​ for Maine residents​​ and Monday, November​​ 2nd​​ for all hunters. ​​ The last day of hunting season for firearms is November 28th. ​​ Muzzleloader​​ season is November 30th​​ through December 12th​​ and the cost for a muzzleloader license is $14.00. ​​ The 2020-2021 Hunting Law books are available for download at​​ www.mefishwildlife.com. ​​

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • The 2021 Dog Licenses are now available. ​​ Reminder letters were sent out in October. ​​ If you would like to do your dog license renewal via mail, please remember to​​ enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope​​ so we can send you the new tag. ​​ The fee for a male/female is $11.00, and $6.00 for a spayed or neutered dog. ​​ All dogs must be licensed by​​ January 31, 2021​​ or a $25.00 state mandated late fee will apply.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance or you can have your insurance email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com​​ or fax proof to 876-9704.

 

  • The 2021 snowmobile registration and stickers are now available. ​​ The fee for a renewal is $46.00, and $47.00 for a new registration. ​​ Non-resident snowmobile registrations are $100.00, non-resident 3-Day is $50.00, and a non-resident 10-Day is $76.00. ​​​​ Inland Fisheries and Wildlife requires patrons to bring in a valid driver’s license or State ID when obtaining a snowmobile registration.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this isn’t your first marriage, please bring a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.
