PARKMAN NEWS—SEPTEMBER 2020 EDITION

  • The first day of school for SAD #4 pre-K through 9th​​ grade is​​ Wednesday, September 2nd​​ and for grades 10-12​​ Thursday, September 3rd.

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday,​​ September 3rd​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, September 7th​​ in observance of Labor Day.

  • The​​ Parkman Trailblazers​​ Snowmobile Club will meet on​​ Tuesday, September 8th​​ at 6:00​​ p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.​​ 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, September 10th​​ and​​ Thursday, September 24th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

  • The Transfer Station is open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please note that Wednesday, September 30th​​ will be the last day the Transfer Station will be open on Wednesdays this year. ​​ Please follow social distancing guidelines at the Transfer Station. ​​ Please​​ have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle. ​​ If you do not have a sticker, please call 876-3730 so we can mail you one or stop by the Parkman Town Office during business hours to get one. ​​ They are free of charge.

  • The Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Bangor is open by appointment only. ​​ The number to schedule an appointment is​​ 942-1319.

  • Sonia Sanborn is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c).

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

  • All unpaid 2020 property taxes begin accruing interest of 8% on​​ October 1, 2020.

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance or you can have your insurance email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com​​ or fax proof to 876-9704.

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

  • The Parkman Grange received five applications for 2020 Minnie Welts Bridge Memorial Scholarships. ​​ Due to the cancellation of the Annual Scholarship Supper, the Grange chose to make only two awards of $500 each for the 2020-2021 school year. ​​ Winners are David Hession, a Music major at USM and Bailey Woodard, a Biology (pre-med) major at UMO. ​​ 2021 Scholarship awards will depend entirely on donations, since there was no supper this year. ​​ Donations may be made at KC’s Country Store or the Parkman Town Office. ​​ You can also write a check to the Parkman Grange, noting “Scholarship Fund” on the memo line and mail it to the Parkman Grange: PO Box 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443. ​​ Sue Manchester, the Parkman Grange Master, can provide additional information. ​​ She can be reached at 277-3942. ​​ Every donation will be greatly appreciated and will go directly to future scholarship awards.

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ​​ They are closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road. ​​ Please call 876-2681 outside of business hours.

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.

  • ATV registrations DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax from a dealer at time of registration.
