PARKMAN NEWS—JUNE 2020 EDITION

  • The Transfer Station is open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ There will be NO CHARGE for Demo on​​ Saturday, June 6th. ​​ Please follow social distancing guidelines at the Transfer Station. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants inside of your vehicle. ​​ If you do not have a sticker, please call 876-3730 so we can mail you one or stop by the Parkman Town Office during business hours to get one. ​​ They are free of charge.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, June 11th​​ and​​ Thursday, June 25th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Thank you to David Haverfield for your years of service on the Board of Selectmen and congratulations to Kyle McKenney on your recent election to the Board of Selectmen.​​ Congratulations to all that were elected at Town Meeting.

 

  • The SAD #4 District Budget Meeting will be held on​​ Thursday, June 25th​​ at 7:00 p.m. in the PCHS gymnasium. ​​ There will be an informational meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the PCHS gymnasium for citizens to have the proposed budget explained and to ask questions.

 

  • Congratulations to all 2020 PCHS graduates! ​​ The last day of remote learning for SAD #4 is​​ Tuesday, June 9th.

 

  • Minnie Bridge Scholarships applications are available at the Parkman Town Office for 2nd​​ year college students from Parkman. ​​ $500 scholarships will be awarded. ​​ The deadline for entries is​​ August 14, 2020.

 

  • The 2020/2021 ATV Registrations and stickers are now available. ​​ If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid from a dealer at the time of registration. ​​ ATV’s DO NOT require a title. ​​ We need the color of the ATV and your Driver’s License or an unexpired State ID at time of registration. ​​ This is a requirement from Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. ​​ 

 

  • Building permits are available online at​​ www.parkmanmaine.com​​ or at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Parkman require all vehicles (Motor Vehicle,​​ ATV’s,​​ Trailers, Boats, and Motorcycles) to be registered by​​ June 30, 2020. ​​ All other registrations will be due upon expiration. ​​ Janet T. Mills, Governor of the State of Maine, repealed Executive Order 53 on May 26, 2020 and replaced it with the following: A vehicle required to be registered in the State of Maine after purchase or transfer of ownership or for which a registration expires or has expired must be registered within a deadline established by the municipal officers of the municipality in which the vehicle owner resides. ​​ 

 

  • The Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Bangor has reopened by appointment only. ​​ The number to schedule an appointment is​​ 942-1319.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c). ​​ Sonia deals with domestic animals only, for wildlife issues please contact a Game Warden.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111 and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring a copy of your divorce decree or death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • The 2020 Boat Registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale​​ or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at the time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title. ​​ We need the color of the boat and your Driver’s License or an unexpired State ID. ​​ This is a requirement from Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

 

  • The Primary/Special Referendum Election will be held on​​ Tuesday, July 14, 2020. ​​ The deadline to change your political party is​​ June 29, 2020. ​​ Absentee ballots will be available. ​​ Please call 876-3730 to request a ballot by mail. ​​ Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance or you can have your insurance agent fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com.​​ 

 

  • The 2020 tax bills are anticipated to be mailed out in mid-June. ​​ There will be a 2% discount on tax bills paid in full within 30 days of postmark. ​​ Interest of 9% will begin accruing October 1, 2020.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Friday, July 3rd​​ in observance of Independence Day.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office is open on Monday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ​​ We are operating out of the window on the ramp for transactions. ​​ It really helps if you can call ahead with a time you are coming and what you want to register etc. so we can have it ready upon arrival. ​​ We do allow people to come inside when it is raining hard. ​​ We allow no more than 2 people in at a time; and ask that you respect social distancing as much as possible. ​​ We accept credit cards in person and over the phone. ​​ There is a 3% surcharge when using your credit card. ​​ Our phone number is 876-3730, fax is 876-9704, email is​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com, and website is​​ www.parkmanmaine.com. ​​
