PARKMAN NEWS—MARCH 2020 EDITION

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on Tuesday, March 3rd at 5:00 p.m. at Don Pepin’s house. ​​ For more information please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942.

 

  • The Presidential Primary/Special Referendum Election will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. ​​ Voting will take place in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ The Parkman Town Office will be closed for business on Election Day.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on Thursday, March 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Democratic Caucus will be held on Sunday, March 8th at the Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford at 9 Campus Drive. ​​ Doors open at 1:00 p.m., and the caucus begins at 2:00 p.m. ​​ The snow date for the Democratic Caucus is Sunday, March 15th.

 

  • Remember to Spring Ahead on Sunday, March 8th at 2:00 a.m. ​​ Set your clocks ahead one hour.

 

  • The Parkman Trailblazers will meet on Tuesday, March 10th at 6:00 p.m. at Wayne Libby’s house, 15 Libby Lane in Parkman off of the Crow Hill Road.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on Thursday, March 12th and Thursday, March 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • SAD #4 will be having a Teacher’s Workshop day on Friday, March 20, 2020. ​​ There will be no school that day for students.

 

  • The annual Town Meeting for Parkman will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ The Registrar of Voters will be at the Parkman Grange Hall at 10:00 a.m. ​​ Please bring your annual Town Report with you to the Town Meeting. ​​ The reports are anticipated to be available by March 13th at the Parkman Town Office, KC’s Country Store, and the Transfer Station. ​​ There will be a Town Meeting dinner from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., put on by the Grange. ​​ Menu will include chicken pot pie, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, beans, veggies, and assorted desserts. ​​ Admission for the dinner is by donation.

 

  • Just a friendly reminder that all motorcycles expire March 31st.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c). ​​ Sonia deals with domestic animals only, for wildlife issues please contact a Game Warden.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.

 

  • Inland Fisheries and Wildlife requires patrons to bring in a valid driver’s license or unexpired State ID when obtaining a Hunting/Fishing License.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee has 2020 calendars for sale at KC’s Country Store and at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The price is $10.00 each. ​​ The committee will not be reprinting these calendars so come get one while you still can. ​​ All proceeds will go toward the 200th Celebration for the Town of Parkman.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance or you can have your insurance company fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to townofparkman@yahoo.com. ​​ 

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption Winter Hours are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. ​​ Sunday is a call-in day to see if they are there. ​​ Their number is 876-2681.

 

  • The Motor Vehicle Mobile Unit hours in Dover-Foxcroft: The 1st and last Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to Noon & 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall (112 Park Street, Dover-Foxcroft).
