PARKMAN NEWS—DECEMBER 2019 EDITION

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ All are invited to attend this meeting. ​​ They will be closing the Grange Hall for the winter in late December. ​​ As another year ends, the Parkman Grange would like to thank everyone that have helped to make it a great year!

 

  • Muzzleloader season is December 2nd through December 14, 2019, and the cost for a muzzleloading license is $14.00.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on Thursday, December 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • SANTA IS COMING TO THE PARKMAN GRANGE HALL: ​​ The Parkman Grange will host the annual Kid’s Christmas Party on Saturday, December 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Santa will be there to hear Christmas wishes, giving out presents, and posing for pictures. ​​ Eight different craft tables will be set up for kids to make gifts to give to family and friends. ​​ Cookie decorating, jingle bell necklaces, and ornament making are just a few of the fun and simple crafts. ​​ Christmas cookies and hot cocoa will be served. ​​ In the spirit of giving, this event is FREE to all; the Grange’s gift to the community. ​​ For more information or if you would like to join in the fun and help out, please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942 or Facebook Parkman Grange.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on Thursday, December 12th and Thursday, December 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The SAD #4 Santa Project is underway. ​​ This program provides a warm winter coat, boots, and toys to eligible children in our area. ​​ An angel tree is set up at KC’s Country Store where you can pick out a star with a child’s request and shop for that. ​​ Donations can be made by check to the Parkman Grange, PO Box 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443. ​​ Checks should be made payable to the Parkman Grange with Santa Project in the memo line. ​​ If you would like to help with this project please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942. ​​ The Santa Project distribution will be held on December 15th from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ The 5th District Masons will be there handing out turkeys and the makings for a holiday meal to each family.

 

  • As of October 1, 2019, all 2019 unpaid property taxes are accruing interest at 9%.

 

  • There will be a Candlelight Christmas Eve Service on Tuesday, December 24th at 6:00 p.m. at the Parkman Baptist Church. ​​ This will be a special time of reflection and praise. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be CLOSED on Tuesday, December 24th and Wednesday, December 25th in observance of Christmas.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.

 

  • The 2020 Snowmobile registration and stickers are now available. ​​ The fee for a renewal is $46.00, and $47.00 for a new registration. ​​ Non-resident snowmobile registrations are $100.00, non-resident 3-Day is $50.00, and a non-resident 10-Day registration is $76.00. ​​ Snowmobiles DO NOT require a title. ​​ Please bring in a valid driver’s license or unexpired State ID at time of registration.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • Just a friendly reminder that all dogs six months and older must be licensed by January 31, 2019 or a state mandated $25.00 late fee will apply. ​​ The fee for a male/female is $11.00, and $6.00 for a spayed or neutered dog.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c). ​​ Sonia deals with domestic animals only, for wildlife issues please contact a Game Warden.

 

  • The Motor Vehicle Mobile Unit hours in Dover-Foxcroft: The 1st and last Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to Noon & 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall (112 Park Street, Dover-Foxcroft).

 

  • Inland Fisheries and Wildlife requires patrons to bring in a valid driver’s license or unexpired State ID when obtaining a Hunting/Fishing License.

 

  • New Law from Title Division: When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance or you can have your insurance company fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to townofparkman@yahoo.com.

 

  • The Universalist Unitarian Church of Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft Food Cupboard is open the 1st Wednesday and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ Patrons may come to one distribution per month. ​​ They are located at 130 Main Street in Sangerville (corner Church Street and Main Street).

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be CLOSED on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in observance of New Years. ​​ We hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • The books for the Town of Parkman close on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. ​​ Property taxes unpaid at that time will appear in the annual Town Report. ​​ Any requests to the Selectmen for articles in the warrant for the annual Town Meeting must be received by January 31, 2020.

 

  • ATTENTION: ​​ The little winter sand shed by the old barn at the Parkman Town Office is for Parkman Residents only. ​​ Please limit sand to 2 five-gallon buckets per storm. ​​ Thank you!

 

  • The State of Maine Legislature increased registration clerk fees for motor vehicles from $3 to $5 for renewals and from $4 to $6 for new registrations. ​​ Duplicate registrations were also impacted with an increase from $3 to $6.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee has 2020 Calendars for sale at KC’s Country Store and at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The cost is $15 each. ​​ These would make great Christmas gifts. ​​ The committee is not planning on re-printing these calendars so come get one while you still can. ​​ All proceeds will go toward the 200th Celebration for the Town of Parkman.
