PARKMAN NEWS—JUNE 2019 EDITION

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ will meet on​​ Tuesday, June 4th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, June 4th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on​​ Thursday, June 6th​​ at 7:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The SAD #4 Budget Validation Referendum Election will be held on​​ Tuesday, June 11, 2019. ​​ Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ Election will be held in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This is a two-question ballot. ​​ Article 1 approves the amount that was adopted at the District Budget Validation meeting. ​​ Article 2 asks if you wish to continue the Budget Validation Referendum process for another 3 years. ​​ Absentee ballots are available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The last day of school for SAD #4 is​​ Friday, June 14, 2019.

 

  • Minnie Bridge Scholarship applications are available at the Parkman Town Office for 2nd​​ year college students from Parkman. ​​ $500 scholarships will be awarded. ​​ The deadline for entries is​​ June 15, 2019.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, June 13th​​ and​​ Thursday, June 27th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The 2019/2020 ATV Registrations and stickers are now available. ​​ If you are registering an ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax from a dealer at the time of registration. ​​ Important Notice: Starting May 1, 2019 ATV Registration Fees increased. ​​ Renewal fee for residents is now $46.00 and $91.00 for non-residents. ​​ First time registration for residents is now $47.00 and $92.00 for non-resident. ​​ There is also a non-resident 7-day registration; the fee is $76.00. ​​ ATV’s DO NOT require a title.

 

  • To rent the Parkman Grange Hall for an event or function please contact Don Pepin at 343-0274.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ The Transfer Station accepts household trash, demo, debris, metal, refrigerators, air conditioners, TV’s, monitors, and fluorescent light bulbs. ​​ Please ask attendant where to leave each of these items. ​​ The Transfer Station​​ doesn’t accept​​ motor oil or gas, antifreeze, batteries, propane tanks, truck or tractor tires, paint cans with paint in them, or gas tanks (unless cut into and dry, then they can be put​​ in the metal container).

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111 and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee will meet on​​ Monday, June 24th​​ at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If you are interested in being a member of this committee to help in the planning process for the Town of Parkman turning 200 years in 2022​​ please attend this meeting.​​ 

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office and online at​​ www.parkmanmaine.com. ​​ 

 

  • The 2019 Boat Registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale at the time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance or you can have your insurance fax proof to 879-9704 or email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com. ​​ 

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this isn’t your first marriage, please bring a copy of your divorce decree or death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c). ​​ Sonia deals with domestic animals only, for wildlife issues please contact a Game Warden.

 

  • The Universalist Unitarian Church of Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft Food Cupboard is open the 1st​​ Wednesday and 3rd​​ Wednesday each month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ Patrons may come to one distribution per month. ​​ They are located at 130 Main Street in Sangerville (corner Church Street and Main Street).

 

  • The Motor Vehicle Mobile Unit hours in Dover-Foxcroft: ​​ The​​ 1st​​ and last Wednesday​​ of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall (112 Park Street, Dover-Foxcroft).

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road. ​​ Please call 876-2681 outside of business hours.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • “It’s a Jungle Out There!” ​​ The Parkman Baptist Church will be holding a Vacation Bible School beginning​​ Thursday, July 11, 2019​​ and continuing each Thursday through August 8, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ The theme this year is Gospeltopia. ​​ This is for ages 5 to 12, under 5 is welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. ​​ There will be lots of fun activities including water week, obstacle course, and much more. ​​ Come and let the adventure begin. ​​ They hope to see you there.

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee is looking for pictures, old and new. ​​ If you are able to scan and email them to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com​​ that would be very helpful. ​​ We are looking for current pictures of all the twins born in Parkman too. ​​ Also we are in the process of making a 2020 calendar and are in need of photos of past and current Mother’s Day Tea events, Father/Daughter dance, Trunk or Treat/Halloween party, Hunter’s Supper, and couples who have been married for 50 plus years (wedding and current).
