PARKMAN NEWS—JULY ​​ 2019 EDITION

  • The 2019 tax bills will be mailed on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. ​​ There will be a 2% discount on tax bills paid in full within 30 days of postmark (August 2, 2019). ​​ Interest of 9% will begin accruing October 1, 2019.

 

  • The Parkman Prowlers will not meet this month due to the 4th of July holiday.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be CLOSED on Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th in observance of Independence Day.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office now accepts all major credit cards (i.e. Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover). ​​ Please be aware that there is a 3% surcharge added to your fee at the time of use. ​​ We accept credit cards in person only.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on Tuesday, July 9th at 6:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • “It’s A Jungle Out There!” ​​ The Parkman Baptist Church will be holding a Vacation Bible School beginning Thursday, July 11, 2019 and continuing each Thursday through August 8, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ The theme this year is Gospeltopia. ​​ This is for ages 5 to 12, under 5 are

 

  • ​​ welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. ​​ There will be lots of fun activities including water week, obstacle course, and much more. ​​ Come and let the adventure begin. ​​ They hope to see you there.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on Monday, July 8th at 7:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on Thursday, July 11th and Thursday, July 25th at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

  • The Parkman Grange Hall is available for rent for your special event or function. ​​ Please contact Don Pepin at 343-0274 for more information.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ The Transfer Station accepts household trash, demo, debris, metal, refrigerators, air conditioners, TV’s, monitors, and fluorescent light bulbs. ​​ Please ask attendant where to leave each of these items. ​​ The Transfer Station doesn’t accept motor oil or gas, antifreeze, batteries, propane tanks, truck or tractor tires, paint cans with paint in them, or gas tanks (unless cut into and dry, then they can be put in the metal container).

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office and online at www.parkmanmaine.com. ​​ 

 

  • Boat registrations DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax from a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road. ​​ Please call 876-2681 outside of business hours.

 

  • The Motor Vehicle Mobile Unit hours in Dover-Foxcroft: ​​ The 1st and last Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall (112 Park Street, Dover-Foxcroft).

 

  • The 2019 Any-Deer Permit Application is available online at www.mefishwildlife.com. ​​ The deadline for entries is August 15, 2019 by 11:59 p.m.  ​​​​ A chance drawing will be held on September 6, 2019.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c). ​​ Sonia deals with domestic animals only, for wildlife issues please contact a Game Warden.

 

  • ATV registrations expire on June 30, 2019. ​​ If this is a renewal and you can’t make it in during business hours, it can be done by mail by sending a check made payable to Town of Parkman for $46.00 for Maine residents and $91.00 for non-residents. ​​ Please remember to include a self-addressed stamped envelope. ​​ The address for the Town of Parkman is 771 State Hwy 150, Parkman, ME ​​ 04443. ​​ Important Notice: ​​ Starting 05/01/19 ATV registration fees increased. ​​ First time registration for residents is now $47.00 and $92.00 for non-residents. ​​ There is also a non-resident 7-day registration; the fee is $76.00. ​​ ATV’s DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are registering your ATV for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale or proof of sales tax from a dealer.

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111, and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • The Minnie Bridge Scholarship Supper will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ $500 scholarships will be awarded. ​​ More information on the menu and time will be in the August Edition of Parkman News.

 

  • The Universalist Unitarian Church of Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft Food Cupboard is open the 1st Wednesday and 3rd Wednesday each month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ​​ All are welcome. ​​ Patrons may come to one distribution per month. ​​ They are located at 130 Main Street in Sangerville (corner Church Street and Main Street).

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this isn’t your first marriage, please bring a copy of your divorce decree or death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance or you can have your insurance fax proof to 876-9704 or email proof to townofparkman@yahoo.com. ​​ 

 

  • The Bicentennial Committee will not meet this month. ​​ The August meeting date and time will be in the August Edition of Parkman News. ​​ 

 

  • The Grange will again have a Military Appreciation Supper on Saturday, September 14, 2019. ​​ This year will feature a smoke off of pork loin and beef brisket contest and tasting. ​​ Bring your smoker and your favorite recipe for a chance to win the title of the best in town. ​​ Cash prizes. ​​ More details to come.
