PARKMAN NEWS—APRIL 2018 EDITION

  • The Parkman Baptist Church will have a brunch on Easter Sunday, April 1st at 9:00 a.m. at the Parkman Baptist Church. ​​ An Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 9:30 a.m., and Church service will begin at 10:00 a.m. for adults with children being dismissed to have Sunday School after some songs. ​​ Each child will make an Easter craft to take home with them. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The first ATV Meeting for the Parkman Prowlers will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on Tuesday, April 3rd at 6:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ New members are always welcome.

 

  • Congratulations to all the officers elected at the 2018 annual Town Meeting.

 

  • The Planning Board will meet on Thursday, April 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is the new Animal Control Officer for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at 876-3000 (h) or 343-0455 (c). ​​ Sonia deals with domestic animals only, for wildlife issues please contact a Game Warden.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will be hosting their 6th Annual Daddy/Daughter Dance on Saturday, April 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ This event is for girls age 13 and under and that special man in her life. ​​ Tickets are $5.00 per person and will be available at the door. ​​ They will have a DJ spinning tunes, running dance contests, and giving out prizes. ​​ Keepsake photos will be taken to remember this evening. ​​ Bring your little one in her favorite party dress, and Dads make sure you are spiffy too!

  • The Parkman Town Office will be CLOSED on Monday, April 16th in observance of Patriots Day.

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on Thursday, April 12th and Thursday, April 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The 2018 Boat Registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, please bring in a bill of sale at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title.

 

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store from Pam Sukis: 876-4111 and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: 876-2681.

 

  • There will be a Benefit Dinner on Saturday, April 21st from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ The dinner is by donation with 100% of donations going to support the life-changing work of the National MS Society. ​​ Lasagna will be served with salad, rolls, and desserts. ​​ At 5:00 p.m. The Sunday Project will perform jazz music until 7:00 p.m.

 

  • SAD #4 school vacation week is April 16th through April 20th, with an early release on Friday, April 13th at 11:30 a.m.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ​​ They are located on the Crow Hill Road. ​​ 876-2681.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All ae welcome to attend.

 

  • The Town of Parkman is looking for people to join the Cemetery Committee. ​​ If you are interested there is a sign-up sheet in the Parkman Town Office or call the office at 876-3730.

 

  • The Transfer Station is open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Beginning Wednesday, May 2nd, the Transfer Station will be open on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. through the end of September.

 

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ If you do not have your insurance card on you at time of registration you can have your insurance company fax proof of insurance to the Parkman Town Office at 876-9704. ​​ The Town Office also accepts electronic proof of insurance.

 

  • Minnie Bridge scholarship applications are now available at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ $500 scholarships will be given to Parkman residents who have completed one year of higher education. ​​ The deadline for entries is June 15, 2018.

 

  • The SAD #4 District Budget Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the PCES cafeteria. ​​ There will be an informational meeting at 6:00 p.m. ​​ The Budget Validation Referendum will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ The Parkman Town Office will be closed for business that day. Absentee ballots will be available.

 

  • If you would like to participate in the Maine Moose Lottery, you can do so by going to www.mefishwildlife.com and apply online. ​​ Online applications must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on May 15, 2018.

 

  • The Parkman Grange is now accepting reservations for the 18th Annual Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday, May 12th from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ The Guest of Honor is Yvonne Davis. ​​ Tickets are $5.00 per person. ​​ Reservations are required, please contact Sue Manchester at 277-3942 to reserve your seat. ​​ Keep in mind that seating is limited. ​​ 

 

  • Spring time cleaning is a good time to check to see if you have any overdue books from the Harvey Memorial Library. ​​ Please bring them back as other people may be interested in reading them. ​​ We do not charge late fees, and would really like to have these books returned.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate, please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office at 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.
